Behaviour Modification

Dog behaviour problems are stressful

– for you and for your dog.

You have expectations when you bring a dog into your home, but reality is different. You feel trapped in a world of worry and fear, restricted in what you can do with your unpredictable, anxious, or fearful dog. Many “problem” dog behaviours stem from an "evolutionary mismatch"—your dog's natural instincts don't always fit in our modern world or meet our human expectations.

By taking a welfare-first approach, we help you understand the root cause of your dog’s behaviour by considering your dog's L.E.G.S—their Learning history, Environment, Genetics, and Self as an individual. Since every dog is unique, we use this framework to create a customized program of practical and fun training, along with simple, effective management strategies to provide relief. A more confident, well-adjusted companion and a happier, more balanced life for you both awaits.

What we can help with

Reactivity / Aggression

When the simple joys of a stress-free walk or a visit from friends become a source of worry, it can feel incredibly isolating. Are you on constant alert, concerned about your dog's behaviour and fearing they may bite? The sense of dread that comes with a reactive dog can be exhausting. We understand this emotional burden is real, and we want to help you lift it.

Our training is founded on a welfare-first approach, meaning we look at the whole picture—your dog’s physical health, their physical environment, and their overall mental state. By addressing the underlying reasons for their reactivity, we can provide the support you need to help your dog feel safe and confident, allowing you to reclaim your sense of freedom and connection to your best friend again.

This package includes an initial 60-90 minute virtual consultation and four 1 hour follow-up sessions.
Sessions will be conducted at your home, virtually, or in-person depending on the problem.

All sessions must be completed within 90 days of purchase, after which unused sessions will be forfeited.

Separation Anxiety

If you are living with a dog struggling with separation anxiety (SA) – a dog unable to be left alone – you are suffering too. Whether you feel like a prisoner in your own home, or are returning home to find destruction and chaos, separation anxiety takes its toll.

Get your life back! Our innovative Home Alone program takes a welfare-first approach that addresses the root cause of your dog’s anxiety by focusing their mental state, how they can express natural behaviours while alone, their physical health, and their environment. This program will help your dog learn to enjoy being alone so you can enjoy your freedom – from stress-free errands to worry-free trips to work, to guilt-free evenings out with friends.

We custom tailor your SA training plan to fit your dog’s needs and your busy schedule, and unique to our program, we also include weekly Energywork sessions to further support your dog's emotional well-being.

This program includes an initial 60-90 minute consultation, weekly training plans and four 30 minute weekly follow-up sessions. All sessions are conducted virtually via Zoom.

Fear of Strangers

It's heartbreaking when the experience you'd hoped for with your dog is replaced by frustration and even anger due to their fear of people. Having gone through this, we understand completely.

Our program goes beyond traditional training by taking a welfare-first approach that focuses on your dog’s emotional well-being. Using Suzanne Clothier’s four-step systematic approach—only available from certified Treat-Retreat trainers—along with additional training games to build your dog's confidence, we help shy and fearful dogs build the skills to feel more socially confident and experience a positive emotional experience when they encounter strangers.

The ultimate goal is to help your dog feel comfortable around new people, bringing you closer to the happy, relaxed companionship you've always dreamed of.

This program includes an initial 60-90 minute consultation via Zoom and four 1-hour weekly in-person sessions.
