Canicross is a sport where you run, hike, or walk while connected to your dog through a specialized harness system. Your dog wears a comfortable pulling harness, you wear a belt around your hips, and a bungee line connects you both. As your dog naturally pulls forward, you move together as a team through trails, paths, or anywhere adventure calls.
It's not about racing (unless you want to!) - it's about enjoying the outdoors together, building trust, and giving both of you an incredible workout.
Absolutely! You can walk, power walk, hike, or jog - whatever pace works for you. Many people start by walking and gradually build up speed as their fitness, and their dog's fitness, improves.
Actually, the opposite! Canicross teaches your dog WHEN it's appropriate to pull (in harness, on command) versus when to walk nicely (on collar/regular harness). Dogs quickly learn the difference.
When done properly with appropriate equipment and gradual conditioning, canicross is very safe. The bungee line absorbs shock, and you control the pace. Always check with your vet first.
Yes, we offer private training options and teach strategies for managing encounters on trails. Many reactive dogs thrive in canicross because they have a job to focus on.

No. One dog per registration is the limit as each dog needs to be trained individually before putting them together.

"I'd just like to thank pooch partners for introducing me to nosework and for providing such a fun time teaching and playing nosework with Frank. Since then I've taught Mitzi my beagle the game and we've come a long ways, its Mitzi's and I favourite dog sport and we can't get enough of it. We go to tons of competitions and come out with great placements, but the main thing is we go just doing something we love doing together and have so much fun doing it.Again thank you Shelly for introducing us to nosework." You need minimal equipment to get started: a Y-harness is preferred, but a collar can be used, a long line, some treats, q-tips and the scent material. We recommend wintergreen essential oil as the scent. Initial setup is very affordable and ongoing costs are minimal since most materials are reusable. It's one of the most budget-friendly dog activities available.
Scent work can be incredibly beneficial for anxious or reactive dogs because it gives them a job to focus on, which redirects anxious energy into purposeful work and can help to build confidence. The controlled environment of scent training in your home means your dog isn't facing triggers while learning.
Dogs can start learning basic scent games as young as 8-12 weeks old - puppies naturally love to sniff! However, formal training typically works best once dogs are over 6 months old when they have better focus and impulse control. That said, dogs of all ages, including puppies and seniors can all take part as the key is to work at your dog's pace and have fun.
Yes! All sessions are recorded, and you'll have 6 months of access to review them anytime. You can watch at your own pace and practice the exercises. That said, the live sessions offer real-time feedback and coaching, so attending live when possible is ideal. But if life happens, the recordings ensure you won't fall behind..
Does your dog love to follow a trail, nose to the ground, completely absorbed? Tap into their incredible natural instincts with tracking! This isn't about competition; it's about channeling their innate desire to follow a human scent trail, building focus, confidence, and an incredible bond with you as you learn to trust and read your dog as they lead the way.
Imagine the satisfaction as your dog diligently works a track, problem-solving and using their nose in a way that truly fulfills them. It's an amazing mental and physical workout, perfect for any dog with a love for sniffing!
Ready to explore the world through your dog's nose?
We offer personalized introductory tracking sessions by private request.
