Each of the walk/run options below lead to the doggie beach at Cosens Bay for the optional 25 or 50 m swim to complete the duathlon.
Water stations are shown on each map. Please note that the number and location of water stations will be dependent on the number of participants. To view videos of each route, simply click on the applicable link.
Registered participants will pick up their bibs and doggie bandanas at the start location. Upon returning to the start location at the end of the event each participant will receive a goodie bag and if you’re lucky, a random drawn prize donated by our sponsors!
The Doggie Duathlon begins promptly at 8 a.m. so be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of time at the main entrance to the park (yellow gate). Please park in the last parking lot where the event will start from.
Ensure that:
your dog is leashed for the entirety of the event. No retractable leashes or aversive tools (i.e. prong collar). No greet policy (no dog-to-dog interactions) applies for this event.
your bib (provided at the check-in tent) is in clear view on the front of your shirt
your dog is wearing the Doggie Duathlon bandana (also provided at the check-in tent)
you have appropriate bags to clean up after your pooch.
Runners will be started first for all distances, immediately followed by walkers. It is your responsibility to ensure you have full control of your leashed dog throughout the entirety of the event. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in following the rules of this event and the Provincial Park laws to ensure that we are able to hold future Doggie Duathlons at this scenic location!
We are very happy to welcome back Barry from Kiss the Monkey Photography who has generously donated his professional photography services for the Doggie Duathlon for almost all of our events. Barry always captures the fun of the event in his photos and I know everyone appreciates his sponsorship of the event! After the event print quality photos will be available and details will be posted on our Facebook page once the photos are available for viewing online. Barry has been very generous in providing his services for our event for many years and we are very grateful for his generosity so be sure to “smile” and say thank you to him at the event!
We are incredibly thankful to our sponsors that help make this event successful! Without their support the goodie bags and random prize draws would not be possible, so be sure to support them and say thank you if you visit their businesses in Vernon or online!
